I've found that research, similar to class discussions, effective communication and group work are left to the students to intuitively discover on their own.  For some reason these skills are not taught within the classroom or included in curriculum.

These aptitudes are the foundation for higher learning and I would argue, should not be left as chance occurences within the classroom.
